Job Title: Scrum Master

Supervisor: Chief Operations Officer

The Scrum Master will be part of the release operations team highly focused on planning project deliverables to the release train and ensuring agile process coaching agile project teams. As the Scrum Master the position will:

  • Facilitate Planning
  • Helping teams remove impediments
  • Escalating impediments to management
  • Ensuring project deliverables
  • Managing project risk
  • Driving continuous improvement in team building and planning
  • Provides guidance in different agile methodologies (Scrum, XP and Kanban)

Essential Functions

  • Be available as an Agile coach for agile project teams
  • Facilitate planning process, daily stand-ups, assessment of team readiness, monitoring flow, story estimation, backlog preparation and grooming and transition activities
  • Facilitate ceremonies, such as Scrum of Scrums, planning events, and transition week workshops. Establish the calendars for sprints and releases
  • Provide input to avoid bottlenecks to Agile teams. Escalate impediments and manage risk with the help of Quality Management.
  • Coach teams to remove bottlenecks and guide them to self-organize
  • Aggregate and publish team objectives
  • Partner with Product Owners, Managers, Business Owners and scrum teams to help execute on strategy
  • Help organization to understand, assess and manage risks through data driven decision making
  • Coach teams on scrum, Kanban and re-enforcing the rules of agile processes in a standard manner across multiple teams
  • Anticipate and meet the needs of the teams
  • Communicate issues effectively to directors/managers, Senior Leadership, scrum teams and Product Owners to ensure the timely execution of organizational objectives
  • Manages and optimizes the flow of value of the ART using a variety of tools and methods to ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Performs functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships. Identify resources required for each task

Preferred:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Allied Health, Health Information Management, Science or related field
  • Certified Professional ScrumMaster from Scrum.org
  • Demonstrated an understanding of Lean-Agile methods and practices
  • Experience with Kanban
  • JIRA and Confluence experience

Required Knowledge, Skills & Attitude:

  • 1-2 years’ experience leading and managing agile teams; including comprehensive experience as a process leader
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional integration/relationships
  • Proven track record of being results orientated with demonstrated ability to achieve aggressive goals
  • Proven presentation and facilitation skills
  • Must excel working in team-oriented roles that rely on ability to collaborate with others
  • Proven oral, written, and business presentation skills
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in ambiguous environments
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated success at building team relationships and partnerships across organizational lines
  • Demonstration of strong influencing skills
