April Marks Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month: Advocating for Inclusion and Support
Gainesville, FL – April 9, 2025 – OPIE Software is proud to join individuals, advocates, and organizations across the country in recognizing April as Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLLDAM). This month-long campaign is dedicated to raising awareness, fostering inclusivity, and advocating for the millions of Americans living with limb loss or limb difference.
More than 2.7 million people in the United States live with limb loss or limb difference, and that number continues to grow due to factors such as diabetes, vascular disease, and traumatic injuries. Each year, an estimated 185,000 amputations occur in the U.S., highlighting the need for increased access to prosthetic care, rehabilitation, and community support.
“This month is an opportunity to amplify the voices of those living with limb loss and limb difference, while also breaking down barriers to accessibility, healthcare, and public awareness,” said [Name, Title] of OPIE Software. “We encourage everyone to take part in spreading awareness and supporting initiatives that promote equity and empowerment.”
Throughout April, Amputee Coalition will be hosting several fun ways you can get involved and make a difference. These activities aim to educate the public, celebrate the resilience of those affected, and advocate for improved policies that enhance quality of life. The campaign encourages individuals and businesses to show support by wearing orange, sharing stories on social media using #LLLDAM, and engaging in community events. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive world for those with limb loss and limb difference.
